“What’s new?”

Nothing.

It’s sad, I know.

I’ve been stuck in a non-productive loop these past couple of weeks. Something inside me tells me that it’s because I’ve been having a hard time keeping my morale up, and “Oh God, blame it on the weather”, but it might be something else.

I slept 20 hours on Saturday.

We’ve been doing a lot of playtesting for the up-and-coming Magic: The Gathering Bilbao Grand Prix, and most of us have settled on what we’re playing for now. I’ve found I have a certain affinity with a non-interactive deck that involves ignoring your opponent while playing by yourself for 20 minutes, and then proclaiming “I win. Game two?”. It’s a deck I’m about 60/40 with, with an extra 10% win percentage if I could just learn to play. Literally, of the 10 games I’ve lost, after five of them a friend comes and says “Dude, Deep Analysis him = win? Didn’t you notice?”

Why, no, thank you. I didn’t notice. Now I’m not only depressed, but also feel stupid.

So in the end I have a deck that wins 80% of everything. In Magic terms, that’s a ridiculously high amount. If I could play correctly, that is. So I have a choice between playing it or a more forgiving, but inherently less powerful deck. That, and hoping that I get hit by the smart stick sometime before Friday and sweep the competition.

The Magic 8-ball says: Not fucking likely.

Something tells me that I’ll be back next Monday bitching about this.
