The Toys Go Winding Down

Quickies:

  • Radio show is done and airing Thursday April 13th 21h00 Ecuador time (GMT -5). There’s a live webcast you can hook up to in the show’s webpage, and it’ll be available for deferred listening (and hopefully, downloading) sometime the next day. There’s some questionable interview material in there, but the musical experience should be interesting. Let me know what you think.
  • I was in Barcelona for the weekend, playing in Grand Prix (surprise!) Barcelona. Main event: ass. I did finish 6th the next day on a Legacy side event, which I should’ve won, but didn’t due to a questionable judgment call and some lucksackery on my opponent’s side of the table. Overall grade: fuck catalanes.
  • Getting a 5-star hotel for 70 euros a night is hot. Having that hotel 5 minutes from the event site, overlooking a beautiful plaza, and right next to the best sushi joint I’ve hit for a while? Delicious.
  • I’m inventing a new kind of ATM. One that detects when you are taking your card and your receipt, but leaving the money. So this shit doesn’t happen to me yet again. Incidentally, if you found 100 euros on an ATM, send me an e-mail. I’m sure we can work something out.
  • Now that the interview is done (crappy as it may be), I think I’ll dedicate myself to this other web site I might launch. I don’t know whether I should start looking for collaborators now, or wait until I have something to show them. Getting people to write there will help me focus on getting it done, but getting people on board is harder when all you have is a domain name and an idea.

I wish all my life was this complicated, really.

Since I know you care, the list of songs I finally settled on:

Living Colour - Sunshine Of Your Love
Skid Row - Come On And Love Me
Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies - My Boyfriend’s Back
Mr. Big And Guests - Addicted To That Rush
Fountains of Wayne - Hit Me Baby One More Time
Jonathan Coulton - Baby Got Back
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
Reel Big Fish - Take On Me
Prince - Every Day Is A Winding Road
    Tesla - Games People Play
The Ramones - What a Wonderful World
    Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
    Nuno Bettencourt - Surrender
    The Bates - Billy Jean
    Angra - Kashmir

In that order. I thought it flowed nicely, except for the segue into Hit Me Baby One More Time, but I couldn’t transition better into it with 10 minutes left for the recording to start. In retrospect, I should’ve put something in there. Maybe next time?

chuta these is what blogs do… so you have this friends, you meet for beers, almost everyday , sometimes just movies, for years.
same conversation … then life happends and they get away, you get away…

      for what?!
how many times I have heard the cover conversation from Alvarete y Juanchito?, so many times that when I made my list It has suspicious resembles with alverete´s and chito´s… I have not imagination, but in spanish there are some covers you´re leaving out… (I think there was only a reference from Andres Calamaro´s el cantante disc)
      Willie Colon- que sera,
      Fobia- under pressure
Caetano Veloso- un vestido y una flor
frank zappa - starway to heaven … this one´s in english but I love it.
Cafe Tacuba - olor a gas
fabiana Castillo - bienvenidos al tren…

And I know a thing or two about asking friends for colaboration in a blog, they all will say yes… you get the picture
